The America I Believe In by Angelina Podkonjak

“The moment you have protected the individual you have protected society”, said Kenneth Kanuda in 1924. What makes the America I believe in complete?

The answer is dedication, determination, discipline, and lack of discrimination. These have always and will always be the effects that has made American great.

Over the past year discrimination towards black people has been terrible. In America, there has been several police shootings involving blacks and whites. Most of these shootings are because police see blacks as a danger more than they see white people as a danger. Picture this? A police officer goes through a neighborhood where mostly white people live and sees a group of black people, the officer might get suspicious because he ponders that they are up to something that they should not be doing. And the same goes for white people.

As of June 2016, 95 million adults that live in the United States are unemployed. (Jones, 2016)  Eleven out of fifty states have more unemployed people than they do employed people. In the past, there has been many successful people that made a difference in the job industry. These people have dedicated years of their life to going to college. I think that every American should have a good job with a great educational background. If you are going to have a good job that is going to last you your whole life, you must have good educational background. Good jobs do not come without education.

No matter where you live or where you are someone will have to pay the price for freedom and keeping America safe. We should be thankful for those who sacrificed their life for our country and for us. This is why the veterans make such a difference in our country. Because whoever saves one person saves all of America. I believe that America has to have a disciplined military to protect people, and our natural resources.

The America I believe in has a dedicated, determined, and a disciplined population. When I think of America, I think of our soldiers holding our flag high in the air after coming home from battle.
